POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for all Criminal records and all clerical work relating to the legal procedures for the Clerk of Courts mandated by the Florida Statutes and requested by the Judiciary.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Participate in all phases of the clerical work of the Criminal Division of the Clerk of Courts.
- Assists the public in providing copies, criminal record request, court information and collection of monetary obligations.
- Respond to correspondence via fax, phone, email with all agencies in reference to Criminal cases, policies and procedures.
- Confers with Criminal Division Manager with any concerns with regards to the operation of the Criminal department.
- Responsible for receiving, time stamping and disbursing all paper documents filed in the Criminal Division.
- Deliver twice daily outgoing mail to the mail room and retrieve any incoming mail. Open the incoming mail and time stamp and disburse throughout the Criminal Division.
- Responsible for receiving, processing, correctly applying all payments to the Criminal case and imaging the receipt into the automated system.
- End of the day balancing cash drawer and running end of the day reports and completing deposit paperwork. Making sure there is always sufficient change in the register till. Confer with Finance department if any concerns arise.
- Employee in this capacity will have access to confidential information and must maintain privacy of all confidential information.
- Performs special assignments, duties, and projects as instructed by the Criminal Division Managers.
- Employees will be required to perform other duties as directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations relating to Court operations and Criminal procedures.
- Knowledge of the principles of criminal records, court records, and Sunshine Laws.
- Knowledge of computer systems, programs, and current software.
- Ability to work directly with the public.
- Ability to analyze and interpret Criminal Court related issues.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Telephone courtesy and information gathering skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
- N/A (A comparable amount of training, education, or experience in government and/or the private sector may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.)
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
- Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
- Traverse stairs (if elevator is not accessible). Sit for extended periods of time. Lift and carry objects in excess of 10 pounds. Utilize stepladder (filing out of normal reach). Bend. Stoop.
