What you’ll be doing
We’re seeking a Head of Legal to lead contracts for client and partnership agreements, as well as serve as Chief Compliance Officer and BSA Officer. Highline’s product is a game changer for bill payment. This role will leverage your significant experience as an attorney, likely in the Fintech space, to drive success for Highline when sales and negotiation becomes contract and performance, and products move from idea to reality.
- Contracts: Ensure the company can meet its strategic goals as it enters into contracts with clients, partnerships, and suppliers to make payments from payroll broadly available to billers
- Consumer Compliance: Ensure the highest standards of consumer protection by helping build products that serve customers well, reviewing and advising on development and changes
- Product development: Participate in Agile delivery of new products and features, providing legal and compliance guidance to ensure we build it right the first time
- Legal quarterbacking - Help Highline determine what legal work can in-house, what portion needs to go to outside counsel, and help queue up the work to ensure efficient and effective work product.
What we are looking for
- 5 years experience advising Fintech companies either as a lawyer at a law firm or as in-house counsel
- J.D. and membership in the Texas Bar in good standing, or eligible to register as in-house counsel with the Texas Bar
- Strong communication skills; able to articulate the technical aspects of payroll payments to lenders as well as the desired outcomes to technology teams to ensure risk management
- Ability to embrace and enjoy the pace of Fintech and this rapid growth company
- A team player; someone who knows we are better together and enjoys being a great business partner
- A problem-solver who likes to whiteboard solutions and approaches obstacles with an attitude of “let’s figure this out together”
