Job Description

HII, Mission Technologies needs an Operations Manager who will support our Space Advanced Materials and Coatings lab in Chicago, Illinois. Our ideal applicant will have an eye for detail, an entrepreneurial mind-set, and the ability to work onsite.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with government and commercial customers and educate them about products and services.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with clients, providing regular updates on project status, deliverables, and risks.
• Prepare cost estimates, budget forecasts, and financial reports.
• Implement cost-control measures to optimize resources and increase efficiency.
• Identify potential risks related to budget, scope, and schedule, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, standards, and contract requirements.
• Oversee office administration including end-to-end purchase order processing, and reporting.
• Assist Program Manager with production and supervision of team.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelor's in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Master's in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience.
• 4 years of program/project management experience within defense or aerospace industries.
• Understanding of DoD procurement and budgetary processes.
• Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in paint/coatings industry.
• Previous experience managing programs involving product development.

Physical Requirements

• May be required to visit job site in an industrial environment.
