Job Description:
Hilco Real Estate (HRE) has an immediate opening in our Northbrook, IL office for a senior negotiator within its industry-leading commercial lease advisory/corporate restructuring team. HRE represents healthy, stressed and distressed multi-location tenants, providing strategic advisory and transactional services including negotiating and repositioning over 80,000 leases over the past 20 years, helping companies improve leverage and cash flow by minimizing costs and mitigating lease liability. This individual will be responsible for optimal management of lease restructuring engagements, ensuring consistently successful transaction execution on behalf of new and recurring clients. The individual will play a pivotal role in maximizing productivity and revenue generation, assisting in the long-term growth of the company.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop a broad and deep knowledge of Hilco’s lease advisory and restructuring program and related business opportunities with the goal of being a key company representative with clients, investors, and business partners to help execute existing and new business engagements.
Working within Hilco’s team environment, assume responsibility for renegotiation of portfolios of lease locations, coordinating communication between the client, landlord and other constituents/advisors.
With active involvement in engagements, foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company. Contribute to a high-performance team with an emphasis on building acuity and capacity in strategic analysis and operational execution.
Ensure operations “quality control” by addressing organizational challenges and other process improvements related to ongoing client engagements.
By optimally managing existing clients, serve in a key business development role of growing the client and revenue base of the company’s nationwide lease restructuring business.
Remain abreast of market dynamics, industry trends and changes in the business climate, seek opportunities where the group can proactively capitalize on market trends and leverage cross-program strengths to secure and expand recurring revenue streams.
Qualifications:
We are seeking individuals with notable experience (5 years) in the restructuring, turnaround, legal and/or consulting industry with fluent knowledge of US bankruptcy code. The preferred candidate has a background in real estate restructuring, with extensive negotiation skills and thorough grasp of strategies and concepts related to the creative application of leverage. Experience working on leases in the retail or consumer industry is a plus.
Proven transaction experience and prior strategic business responsibility is preferred. Analytic and effective decision-making is vital, with the ability to prioritize and communicate key objectives and tactics to achieve organizational goals. Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, and flexible, with an innovative approach to effective negotiations.
A persuasive and skilled communicator, the candidate must be proficient at providing a strong public and business presence with clients and throughout the industry, building excitement for the company’s brand both internally and externally.
Technically proficient, strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with an entrepreneurial spirit, positive attitude and unquestioned ethics and integrity.
Educational Background:
Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or related field; masters or JD degree with background in bankruptcy or real estate law is a big plus.
