Transportation Aide
Job Summary
Drives center vehicle to transport residents, staff, and volunteers to desired destination.
Responsibilities
Performs miscellaneous errands, such as carrying mail to and from the post office, transporting residents to the doctor’s office and other activities, and driving employees to preferred providers for emergency treatment.
Performs any various work assignments as may be required.
Resident Rights
Know and respect residents’ rights.
Informs and supports residents in exercising their rights.
Ensure protected health information is kept confidential.
Reports complaints made by residents to the supervisor.
Reports all allegations of resident abuse, neglect, and/or misappropriation of resident property.
Safety and Sanitation
Follows established safety policies and procedures.
Observes safety needs of residents as indicated in care plan; participates in restraint reduction program.
Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies when indicated and adequately trained to use.
Demonstrates job-specific knowledge of fire and disaster preparedness during drills or actual situations.
Staff Development
Attends and participates in scheduled in-service training, educational classes, and meetings to maintain current certification as mandated by regulatory agencies and company policies.
Participates in the QAA process.
Education
High School Diploma preferred; Current operator’s license may be required, driver’s license required by state law.
Experience
Previous transportation experience, preferred.
Physical Demands
Primarily light in nature with lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent sitting and operating of hand and foot controls;
Reaching, Seeing, must be capable to assist passengers in and out of vehicle.
Travel
90%
Working Conditions
Both inside and outside.
