JOB CONTENT:
· Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
· Performs microbiological tests on prunes, concentrates and juices.
· Performs qualitative tests on juices and concentrates.
· Performs sorbic acid tests on processed prunes.
· Performs swab tests on equipment in processing and cook room areas.
· Calibrates, operates, cleans and maintains laboratory test equipment.
· Works closely with Asst. QA Manager, QA Manager and Cook Room Supervisor.
· Collects and disposes of retention samples.
· Be trained in food safety including GMPs, HACCP.
· Monitors daily lab equipment and ambient temperatures
· Performs daily well water chlorine checks.
Occasional Duties
· Acquires, test and packages sample requests for HV QA Manager(s).
· Assists and supervises new personnel in acquiring quality assurance principles and procedures.
· Must substitute for processed prune and juice line QC technicians on occasion.
· Must be able to work any shift, weekends and early hours.
SAFETY CONDITIONS:
· Be able to lift up to 25 lb and up to 40 lb on occasion.
· Will work in safe manner at all times.
· Will use knees, not back, in lifting heavy objects.
· Will observe safety and MSDS training seminars.
HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS:
· Will use caution working around slippery floors or platforms.
· Will use caution handling laboratory chemicals and materials.
· Will use caution when walking in areas with forklift traffic.
· Will review CAL-OSHA Hazard Communication Standard posted by the time clock.
