Position Summary: As a Telecom Staker/Engineer, you will play a crucial role in planning, designing, and implementing telecommunications networks. You will be responsible for conducting surveys, gathering data, and ensuring the efficient deployment of telecom infrastructure. This position requires a strong technical background in telecom engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in both field and office settings.
Engineer Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to determine and propose fiber optic pathways to provide telecom services on behalf of our clients.
- Perform detailed OSP designs documenting OSP routes via aerial and underground placement.
- Perform detailed ISP designs documenting ISP routes to Customer Demarc/IT Room location
- You will meet with property contact on-site to gather detailed site notes and photographs for each location
- Represent in a professional matter when meeting with building owners, engineers, etc. onsite.
- Must be able to locate and determine fiber optic equipment
- Must be detail oriented and be able to write up scope of work and explanation of proposed cable route.

- Staker will will take notes and measurements of the proposed Telecom equipment site using measuring height sticks, measuring wheels etc.
- Must be able to hand sketch designs neatly to be turned over to CAD department to create final design. The measurements will be written / drawn onto field maps
- Visual pole inspections, looking for and making note of existing violations and potential make-ready for future attachments
- Field survey of proposed fiber route, collecting field information necessary to complete pole attachment applications and/or buried installation applications
- Aerial and underground make ready surveys; outside plant route selection and verification
- Perform inspections on man/hand-holes, pedestals, and building entrance terminals, audits, and document findings
** CAD EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS **
Must
- Be well verse in inside and outside plant telecommunications construction
- adhere to administrative guidance on project execution
- Evaluate, document and adhere to Client design requirements
- You will perform post site survey verification questionnaire
- Have Knowledge of: Advanced fiber optic theories, network operations, construction practices, industry standards, leasing and use agreements and Fiber network operations
1. Site Surveys: Conduct detailed site surveys to assess the feasibility of telecom infrastructure installations. This includes evaluating terrain, access, and existing infrastructure.
2. Data Collection: Gather relevant data, including environmental, geographical, and regulatory information, to inform network planning and design.
3. Design and Planning: Collaborate with the engineering team to develop network designs and plans that meet client requirements, regulatory standards, and budget constraints.
4. Permitting and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all telecom projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Assist in obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
Equipment Installation: Oversee the installation of telecom equipment and infrastructure, ensuring it meets technical specifications and quality standards.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of survey findings, project designs, and implementation details. Prepare comprehensive reports for clients and internal teams.
Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on installed equipment and infrastructure to identify and rectify any issues or discrepancies.
Safety and Compliance: Promote and adhere to safety protocols and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a telecom surveyor or engineer in the telecommunications industry.
- Proficiency in surveying tools, CAD software, and GIS applications.
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications systems, equipment, and technologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and permitting processes in the telecommunications sector.
