Direct Support Professional III

Full-Time, $20.42 - $22.07/hour average pay. Pay average is calculated based upon a lower weekday rate and a higher weekend rate.

Hill & Dales is a non-profit organization dedicated to building meaningful lived for people with disabilities. We are seeking Direct Support Professional IIIs to support children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities who also need assistance in navigating behavioral challenges.

As a Direct Support Professional III, you will partner and ACTIVELY work alongside children and adult residents who need support to accomplish their needs, wants, and dreams in life. DSP III's are have special competencies in de-escalation and supporting aggressive and interfering behavior. These positions are ACTIVE, and require team members to be on the move. They also require the DSP to be perceptive, patients, and really focused on building relationships of trust. DSP III's often find the work very challenging in the beginning especially, but after building relationships with clients; these are some of the most rewarding positions with Hills & Dales. DSP IIIs pride themselves in having unlimited belief in someone's potential; they do not fear a struggle in pursuit of helping a client accomplish their goals! Some duties include (see full job description attached for more):

• Bathing, toileting, hygiene support.
• Supporting exercise and mobility
• Assisting clients through behavioral challenges per their plan
• Ensuring safety of clients and others during times of agitation
• Communicating and coordinating with teams and others to support clients in the most effective way
• Learning about best practices, emerging techniques, and systems of support
• Continuous engagement in trainings
• Accompanying clients to outings and events they are interested in (camping, fishing, art).
  Being creative in coming up with opportunities for clients who face barriers.
• Supporting work-skills development
• Assisting clients in expressing their feelings in emotions in appropriate ways. Supporting challenging behavior if necessary.
• Following detailed dietary instructions

Some qualifications include:

• Ability to assertively communicate and advocate for clients and residents
• Ability to life 35 lbs.
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and valid insurance limits
• Must successfully pass criminal background check, drug screen, and driving record check

Available schedules:

• 12-13 hour shifts between 5AM and 8PM (Days)
• 12-13 hours shifts between 5PM and 8AM (Nights)
• Generally a combination of 3-shifts between Sunday-Wednesday OR 3 shifts between Wednesday-Saturday. (Ex Sun 5A-5P, Tues 5A-5P, Wed 5A-5P).
• Most schedules require 1 weekend shift
• Ability to trade shifts without using PTO is generally acceptable
