Job Title: Laundry Aide
Department: Environmental Services
Reports To: Environmental Services Director
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Summary
Perform the day-to-day activities of the laundry department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations as directed by the laundry supervisor. Maintain laundry in a clean, safe and sanitary manner, with an adequate supply of clean linen to meet the needs of the residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties are determined by the facility and may include, but are not limited to the following:
A.Must be knowledgeable of the use and application of MSDS sheets.
B.Must maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment as well as maintain the appearance of the laundry area in a safe, sanitary and orderly fashion.
C.Perform specific daily laundry tasks in accordance with daily work schedules or as assigned.
D.Sort, treat and wash soiled laundry and linens in accordance with established procedures.
E.Operates washers and driers and sets on appropriate cycles.
F.Dry, fold, count, stack, hang and distribute clean laundry to residents on a daily basis or as instructed.
G.Mends torn articles and replaces missing buttons.

Other Qualifications
Must have the desire to work with convalescent, geriatric or light psychiatric residents. Will assure that the resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times. Must maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information. The employee shall use only the minimum necessary information to perform his or her responsibilities. Trust worthiness, loyalty, fairness, honesty and reliability must be one of his/her best assets.
Exposure Risk
This position carries a risk for blood borne pathogen (BBP) exposure. Must practice appropriate engineering and work practice controls, including standard precautions and hand hygiene. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended.
