SALARY: $90,000 - $115,000 dependent upon qualifications and years of experience; Relocation assistance to Hilo, Hawaii is available

We are looking for an exceptional human resources manager to lead our Employee Engagement division. The ideal candidate is driven by the desire to help shape our organization by implementing employee engagement and performance management strategies. Leveraging prior experience as a labor & employee relations leader in a high-growth, deadline-driven environment, the HR Officer achieves strategic and immediate employee engagement goals while promoting our Go Malama culture and core values. This staff member will also be a key liaison with labor unions.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Excess work experience as described under the Specialized Experience below or any other progressively responsible administrative, professional, or other analytical work experience which provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis. To be acceptable, the experience must have been of such scope, level and quality as to assure the possession of comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of professional work experience in one or any combination of human resources functions; i.e., employee management relations and services, employee development, personnel program development and services, labor relations and personnel research, recruitment, placement, examination, position classification, pay or wage administration. Experience must show ability to deal satisfactorily with fellow workers and/or operating personnel, to recognize problems in the operation of human resources program, and to suggest practical solutions, and otherwise to accept substantive responsibility in the field of human resources administration. Clerical and technical experience in a human resources program involving work which is limited to the application of human resources rules, regulations, and procedures in support of the human resources functions described above is not qualifying.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration or related field. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR, SPHR, or CHHR certification.

Must be available to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary, based on hospital operations (services are provided 24/7).

MEDICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. After receiving a conditional offer of employment, all prospective new HHSC employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. New employees are required to provide confirmation of their full vaccination status by presenting their CDC vaccination card or VAMS Certificate prior to their start date.
