What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laundry Attendant position at Hilton Richmond Downtown?
JOB DUTIES
- Arrive at scheduled start time in appropriate uniform and ready for work.
- Operates laundry machinery such as washers, driers, and ironers.
- Loads articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap, or other cleaning agent by programming laundry machines. Starts machine that automatically washes and rinses articles.
- Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them successively into driers for measured time cycles.
- Sorts dried articles according to type. Folds and places items in appropriate storage area.
- Sorts torn and stained articles. Soaks contaminated articles and processes in detaining cycle.
- Cleans lint traps and sweeps laundry room
- Properly handle all equipment and cleaning chemicals (i.e., washer, dryer, detergents etc.).
- Follow proper procedures when recovering lost and found items and communicate to manager/supervisor as needed.
- Watch for safety hazards and report them immediately to your manager/supervisor.
- Perform other duties as directed, developed, or assigned.
- Attend all mandatory Department and Hotel meetings.
- Complete all required training within timeframe allotted.
- Act in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures as required.
- Support environmental commitments by acquiring the knowledge, skills, and values to be a leader in the global goal of “greening” the hospitality industry
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 18 years of age
- US work authorization required
- Must meet grooming standards
- Minimum 6 months previous laundry experience in hotel/resort or similar
Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
Able to work on your feet standing/walking for extended periods of time
- Must be able to use hands, arms, and fingers for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Able to work with little or no supervision
- Strong attention to detail as it pertains to cleanliness standards
- Able to demonstrate high energy, and strong enthusiasm for customer service
Able to effectively communicate in English
Able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
**Full-time position requires full availability a minimum of five (5) days per week, including Sundays & some holidays. Shifts begin at 3PM and end when all work is completed, usually between 11PM, but could be later on busier days.**
