What will I be doing? Our Global Design Services Team (GDS) works with hotel Owner's consultants to elevate the design of Hilton hotel brands with specific brand positioning, steadfast commitment to sustainability and healthy environments to thrive, optimizing guest experience, and operational efficiency. GDS leads modifications to active properties and projected new build properties!
The Design Manager will provide steadfast leadership of design review and approval of hotels for full service and collection branded properties in the US & Canada, communicating directly with hotel owners, operations teams, and design consultants. This role collaborates with A&C Project Directors on projects for new build hotels, adaptive-reuse hotels, and brand changes. Design Manager will project-manage hotel renovations. This role leads collaboration with GDS VP and cross-departmentally with brand, development, and A&C team to advance GDS design initiatives, Brand Narratives, and D&C Standards. This includes research into the evolution of the technology of design products, FF&E, and sustainability/wellness.
More Specifically you will:
- Design Direction & Project Evaluation- time dedicated to the review design for aesthetics in alignment with the brand ethos, functionality, and compliance with standards, while leading hotel owners and their design consultants
- Document Review- independently and collaboratively review drawing and/or specification submittals for compliance with GDS and brand standards. Compose written recommendation and approval documents for internal and external publication
- Assist consultants of owners and GMs with project registration, design submittals, issuance of design review documents, design re-submittals, and issuance of formal design approval letter
- Project and Document Tracking - maintain accurate logs and records in compliance with Hilton retention policy
- Assist with updates to Brand Narratives, D&C Standards, and specific GDS initiatives. Assist with presentation preparations to senior executives. Periodically present research on innovation and “BlueSky” visioning to the GDS team
Requirements
What are we looking for?
To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:
- Five (5) years of architecture, or interior design experience with domestic full service, lifestyle, or luxury hotels
- Two (2) years of project management experience
- Successful collaborator, with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Travel up to 25%
It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- BA/BS Bachelor’s Degree or Master's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
- Microsoft Office Suite; Microsoft Teams, BlueBeam, Adobe Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Sketch-up AutoCAD, or other 3D visualization software
- Knowledge of accessibility, building codes, and technical requirements in hospitality architecture and design industry
- Developing diagrams and loose hand sketches
- Licensed architect or registered interior designer
