Job Title: Maintenance Helper

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Helper is to keep the manufacturing facility and all production processes mechanically operating and producing quality products in a cost-effective manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Ensures speed of repairs, minimizes downtime, limits labor usage, avoids start-up glitches, promotes safety, and addresses problems in a pro-active way.
• Oversees and maintains preventive maintenance programs scheduled by his supervisor.
• Conducts regular assessment of facility needs, improvements and repairs and routinely inspects operating machinery, equipment and supporting systems.
• Maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, systems, mechanized vehicles, and building structures.
• Ensures production operations and assists with repairs and maintenance schedules.
• Ensures safe work practices and ensures a safe work environment.
• Oversees and monitors the scheduling and safe use of all shop equipment, and that they are in good working order.
• Resolves maintenance problems and issues by interfacing with plant management, shift supervisors, and warehouse production.
• Thoroughly familiar with physical plant services
• Monitors and minimizes down time, identifies and advocates for improvement opportunities.
• Ability to work additional hours as needed.
Must have own tools.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School education or equivalent is required, further education preferred.
• 2 years of experience working with manufacturing equipment preferred.
• Working knowledge in operation and maintenance of manufacturing facility and equipment
• Must be familiar with electrical schematics.
• Must possess knowledge of OSHA and Lock-Out Tag-Out requirements.
• Must be computer literate with Office, technical parts, and maintenance software packages.
• Must have a current driver’s license.
• Ability to read, speak, and write English is required.
Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Work involves walking, talking, hearing, and using a variety of manufacturing equipment.

• Vision abilities require close vision assessments.

• Required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. continually.

• Required to routinely stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl in order to maintain/repair building and equipment.

• Moderately loud noise levels in plant environment.
