About the Role:
As part of the Hims & Hers Public Policy Team (Government Relations) the Director, Government Affairs will help lead the expansion of our compounding-focused advocacy at the state and national levels. The Director will help build and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders such as state pharmacy/pharmacist-focused trade associations and coalitions, state Boards of Pharmacies, and state-level lawmakers and regulators. A focused, prioritized set of states will be assigned.
The Director will also help build and expand our political giving (e.g. PAC) and external communications capabilities. The candidate will have a background in state government affairs, political giving strategy and execution, and trade association and coalition engagement. The position will report to the Vice President of Policy and Regulatory Affairs.
You Will:
Draft and design collateral such as talking points, outside primary and secondary data/research re: compounding, one-pagers, committee hearing testimony, and response letters on a variety of topics that educate the public, key audiences, and legislators about policy matters
Maximize engagement with state-level trade associations and coalitions, ensuring they’re supporting our advocacy goals and that we’re maximizing thought leadership opportunities
Represent the company at external events and meetings, including direct lobbying of relevant state-level lawmakers, and in policy discussions with regulators and state Boards of Pharmacy
Manage state-level external consultants and lobbyists
Help manage the launch and development of any new compounding-focused coalitions/associations
Help manage the company’s evolving political giving and engagement strategy, with a focus on state-level engagement. This may include the management of a corporate PAC
Coordinate and track political engagements with external entities and map engagements to key objectives
You Have:
Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Regulatory or relevant field
10 years working in policy, government affairs, community engagement, or policy spaces, preferably at fast-paced organizations
Experience in state government affairs and trade association engagement
Expert communicator with strong writing and editing skills
Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Healthcare experience in Pharmacy is preferred
Ability to launch/expand corporate Political Action Committees is a plus
Experience working with elected officials is a plus
Experience with media training a plus
