Responsibilities
As an Analyst - Financial Analyst on the Data & Analytics Team with Hines, you will assist with the analysis of and reporting on the firm’s global real estate portfolio, including various measures of investment performance, to both internal and external constituents. The Analyst will leverage an understanding of relational database structures to compile, analyze and present data. This position will also develop and communicate results that provide insights to different functional areas at Hines and the broader organization including Investment Management, Asset Management and Property Management. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assists with analysis and quality assurance of financial data at the property, fund, and investor level
Assists with regular maintenance, updating, and analysis of data, databases, and standardized reports.
Responds to ad hoc requests for information or analysis from internal or external constituents
Developing and maintaining visualization dashboards and reports to be used to help derive meaningful business intelligence to help run our business.
Partners with other teams to build appropriate change control and monitoring processes for analytical reporting.
Leverages various statistical techniques to identify patterns within large data sets; to promptly make predictions and business-oriented suggestions.
Collaborates with appropriate functional teams to establish and prioritize data collection needs and consumption methods.
Communicates and reviews reporting findings with stakeholders and make recommendations from an analytic insight.
Developing new models and analytical tools.
Assisting with other research related projects as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or similar field from an accredited institution; Master's Degree in Finance preferred.
- Two or more years of experience working in either real estate analysis or as an analyst in a quantitative role.
- Strong understanding of measures of investment performance, including concepts such as internal rate of return, time-weighted return, equity multiple.
- Understanding of components of real estate cash flow, including net operating income, capital expenditures, and various methods of valuation.
- Strong analytical/quantitative skills with strong understanding of macroeconomics and commercial real estate economics.
- Experience using visualization/BI software, ideally Microsoft Power BI.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to design automated, repeatable processes on large, complex datasets.
- Proficiency with VBA and SQL and ability to leverage a variety of platforms to design and execute models a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Access.
- Progress toward CFA designation a plus.
