Hinsdale Orthopaedics, a division of Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, currently has an opening working on the team of of one of our surgeons who specializes in Foot and Ankle surgery. He is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to provide exceptional and genuine orthopaedic care for his patients. He has a very busy clinical and operative practice and is seeking a Physician Assistant who will care for patients as if they were his/her own. Job Responsibilities - Clinical
- Perform comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams; Order, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic imaging; Formulate a differential and working diagnosis; Determine a treatment plan within scope of practice or consult with the supervising orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals. Properly code and document patient visits.
- Order, collect, perform, and interpret diagnostic procedures and studies including blood work, EKG, chest radiographs, fluid aspirations, x-rays, CT-scans, and MRI.
- Perform procedures such as wound closure, wound management, wound debridement, incision and drainage, and suture removal.
- Order, prescribe and administer medication, orthosis, braces, other orthopaedic durable medical equipment within the scope of the practice.
- Oversee postoperative clinic, wounds and progression
- Oversee pre-operative clinic, clearance and testing
- Supervise and instruct athletic trainers assisting in clinical responsibilities
- Correspond with patients by email and by phone
- Complete paperwork
- Room, evaluate and scribe during patient visits
- Share clinical ,administrative and surgical responsibilities with other Physician Assistant
Job Responsibilities - Surgical
- Recommend surgical order according surgery and patient history.
- Supervise and instruct athletic trainers assisting in surgical responsibilities
- First assist in surgery
- Write post-operative notes, orders, prescriptions and coordinate patient discharges
- Assist with coding, documentation, order sets, special equipment requests, and preference card lists
Job Responsibilities - Hospital
- Understand, maintain and navigate hospital EMR, PACS, Order sets, passwords and documentation.
- Conduct hospital rounds when needed.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- No current call requirements (subject to participation in practice call pool)
- Maintain requirements and renewal of state licensing and national certification
- Assist physician in the review and preparation of legal case reviews, narratives and independent medical exams, AMA Ratings.
- Respond to insurance requests for peer to peer reviews for patient benefits
- Assist in collecting and documenting research data, patient reviews
Position Requirements
- Graduate from accredited PA-C Program
- Current Illinois license to practice as a physician assistant
- Current Basic CPR Certification
Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Google calendar
- Prior EMR experience
