What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler – Utility position at Hire Dynamics?
We are currently seeking a Material Handler Utility to maintain a clean, efficient, and organized facility to ensure safety and food defense compliance. To salvage product that has been improperly packaged or has exceeded its shelf life in the finished goods warehouse. To reintroduce opened product into the system efficiently and appropriately.
Job Functions:
- Prepare facility for tours.
- Separate sort good from bad pallets; loading bad pallets on the designated trailer.
- Remove plastic from pallets.
- Report to Supervisor any areas needing paint as necessary.
- Empty trashcans and gathers recyclables throughout the facility.
- Make sure all areas of the facility are clean and orderly.
- Maintain clean aisles in the green storage, packaging storage, roasting area, grinding area by cleaning bean spills, picking up loose debris on the floor, etc.
- Sweep empty trailers.
- Sweep and mops facility.
- Back up for other workers in the green bean & packaging areas as necessary.
- Dispose of waste accumulated in the roasting process.
- Assist in cleaning the roasting and grinding areas.
- Provide general assistance to all areas of manufacturing process.
- Receive all nonconforming packaged finished goods that can be salvaged and remixed.
- Identify types of product by their individual packages and ensure that different product types are not mixed.
- Operate the Product Saver that cuts open the nonconforming packaged finished goods and empties the product into containers.
- Dumps remix containers into appropriate WIP bins during production so the product will eventually be properly packaged.
- Tasks are not exclusive or limited to duties specified on this list.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High School or GED.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- Forklift/Pallet Jack certification(or have the ability to become certified).
- Stable work history.
- Favorable work reference and background check.
- Ability to work without constant supervision.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to walk/stand for 90% shift.
Part III -- Physical/Mental Requirements
- Frequent use of Product Saver equipment.
- Occasional use of utility knife.
- Frequent use of remix barrels.
- Frequent use of forklift.
- Occasional use of pallet jack.
- Frequent, repetitive use of hands (e.g., simple grasping and pushing/pulling)
- Ability to stand/walk a minimum of 7 hours per 8 hour shift or 11 hours per 12 hour shift.
- Ability to bend, squat, lift, twist and reach above shoulders a minimum of 4 hours per shift.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 35lbs. Ability to lift boxes of coffee weighing 10-30lbs. approximately 4-5 feet.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 75lbs.
- Ability to pull barrels of coffee that weight approximately 80lbs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and management.
- Ability to read, write and interpret necessary paperwork/documentation.
- Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to follow the appropriate Safety Guidelines.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $16.50 per hour
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Weekend availability

Experience:
- Warehouse experience: 3 years (Preferred)
- Manufacturing: 2 years (Required)
