Lab Assistant

Our Biotech client in Greensboro, NC is seeking a Lab Assistant to join their Formulations department! This is a full time, on site, 6 month contract position with a pay rate of $22/hour. There are not C2C or sponsorship arrangements available for this role.

Duties:
Prepare and evaluate experimental formulations or assigned segments of large projects with minimal supervision using sophisticated equipment, instruments and procedures. Work may include the ability to prepare, characterize and/or evaluate formulations under development.

Ensure all data is collected and analyzed using established and new testing procedures as directed by the Chemist or Specialist. Investigate and explain deviations from normal.

Prepare detailed reports using collected data.

Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, and perform and record calibration procedure. Assist in troubleshooting or adjusting complex equipment and instruments.

Infrastructure support to the Formulation Development department including: lab organization, inspection, and maintenance of safety systems.

Analyze the physical properties of formulations and mixtures using relevant techniques and instruments Evaluate shelf life and application attributes of formulations and mixtures Provide accurate interim and final reports on project work

Work independently on a daily basis Coordinate project work and data reporting with chemists and applications specialists

Share results in group meetings Maintain lab areas with sufficient supplies and raw materials

Support a group of approximately 5 chemists or specialists working on a wide range of product development and/or improvement projects

Actively communicate results and ensure project work is completed on time Support laboratory safety policies, procedures, and initiatives

Skills:
Ability to set-up and run routine laboratory test

Ability to operate and maintain complex laboratory instruments and equipment

Ability to maintain well documented laboratory records according to good laboratory practice guidelines

Ability to communicate and document lab data and report on experiments independently

Ability to coordinate and support professional staff, especially chemists and applications specialists Learn relevant physical test methods and the ability to prepare formulations and mixtures

Work in a fast paced group providing technical assistance in formulation development and applications

Education:
An Associates or Bachelors degree in a science based discipline with related laboratory experience is preferred

Minimum high school diploma with significant experience working in a laboratory.
