As the Data Management Lead in the T-Mobile Enterprise Data Governance Office, you're responsible for implementing Data Management and Governance (DM&G) policies and standards for a portfolio of Line of Business (LOB) initiatives. You'll be a subject matter expert for T-Mobile's DM&G capabilities, and accountable for delivering these capabilities across a portfolio of initiatives. You'll work closely with DM&G engagement leaders, business and technology partners, data quality analysts, and data stewards on implementation, ensuring standardization and delivery across the organization. The overall responsibility for delivering high quality, business informed, policy aligned governed data rests with you.
The Data Management Lead also identifies and contributes requirements to the technical DM&G roadmaps, with a focus on opportunities for automation, self service enablement, and to identify any gaps in overall capabilities. You'll work in a collaborative, fast paced environment with teammates that are passionate about driving insight and innovation through data management.
KEY ACTIVITIES RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute all the data management and governance processes in line with the data management strategy for your portfolio of initiatives.
- Socialize the requirements for implementing data management and governance across assigned portfolio initiatives.
- Stay ahead of data governance best practices, and then adapt to emerging technologies and policies, including periodic review of new tools capabilities.
- Leverage existing technology to perform data management capabilities while informing technical requirements for automation, self service enablement, and innovation.
- Create and provide the necessary tools and templates to project teams to simplify implementation of DM G Standards, such as capturing metadata information, business glossary, authoritative data sources, data classification, etc.
- Work closely with engagement leads to prioritize implementing data
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required preferably in Data Management Analytics, Business, Information Technology, or Computer Science.
- Exposure to Data Management Governance, Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, or Data Analysis concepts.
- Minimum 7 years of related work experience Enterprise Data Management including:
- Be forward thinking and have the vision to keep the Governance implementation up to date with changing business priorities.
- Ability to drive and influence culture change regarding data management adoption within an assigned portfolio.
- Understand data management tools primarily for maintaining business glossary, metadata lineage, and master data management implementation, and the ability to make recommendations to suit business needs
- Familiarity with and understanding of key industry best practices in the Data Governance field, and specifically data management.
- Ability to bring together and work with a team of people with varied backgrounds data governance managers, data quality leads, management leads, data management analysts, technical experts, etc. to deliver data management solutions.
- Proficient in SDLC and different agile delivery models.
- Proven collaborative approach, openly shares information and is receptive to others ideas.
- Engage interpersonal skills and capabilities to form partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in setting up governance, and then operationalizing governance implementation.
- Effective educator and influencer when working with data owners and data stewards on other data subject areas.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Deep understanding of data architecture, data sources and data modelling.
- Good understanding of industry trends in Telecom, Data, Digitization, and AI spaces.
- Certification in Data Management, such as Data Management DAMA, Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), etc.
- Highly proficient understanding of key industry best practices in the Data Management and Governance field.
- Ability to work with design and architecture team on governance standards implementation, review proposed solutions, and then provide feedback.
