What you will be doing:

The Sustainability Data Project Manager will help to position Hitachi Digital, Hitachi Vantara and Hitachi Digital Services' Sustainability program as a business differentiator through ongoing measurement, analysis and management of our global Sustainability and Environmental data. Reporting to the Sustainability Director, this role will partner with departments like Facilities and Procurement to help turn Sustainability (environmental, social & governance) data into knowledge. This position will support the Sustainability team in prioritizing reporting needs and data capture, creating and managing master data sets and building out/ automating repeatable reports primarily focused on Environmental and disclosures, both internally and externally.
  • Develop and execute strategies for the simplification, systematization and standardization of current Sustainability/ Environmental data collection methods
  • Ensure Sustainability/ Environmental data and supporting data systems are accurate and timely in their provision of data to the companies and auditable to support the changing global requirements
  • Efficiently handle large sets of data and be able to confidently process them into required formats
  • Consolidate and report key Sustainability/ Environmental statistics quarterly and annually, as required
  • Act as a key point of contact and support internal/ external Assurance and/ or data validation projects on Environmental data
  • Manage bi-weekly Environmental Interlock meetings, project tracking and SME follow-up
  • Support the companies annual Sustainability reporting process, working with Sustainability team members to collect data
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging trends, regulations and best practices in Sustainability data reporting and recommend strategies for adaptation and innovation
  • Oversee the collection, validation and analysis of GHG emissions data from various sources, including direct emissions (Scope 1), indirect emissions from purchased electricity (Scope 2) and emissions within the supply chain (Scope 3)
  • Additional projects, as assigned
What you bring to the team:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Sustainability, environmental management or related fields, with a proven track record of project management
  • Experience with Sustainability reporting and disclosure standards and tools, as well as experience with Sustainability software platforms (e.g., sustainability management systems, carbon accounting tools, etc.)
  • Understanding of GHG accounting principles, protocols and standards, such as the GHG Protocol
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to plan, organize and execute complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and deliverables
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to collect, interpret and synthesize data to inform decision-making and strategy development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences and build collaborative relationships
