What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Research Center - North America position at Hitachi Energy?
Hitachi energy is seeking an Director Research Center - North America for its Raleigh, NC location. The Research Center Manager will be part of the global management team of Hitachi Energy Research and report directly to the Global Head of Research.
Your responsibilities- Lead and manage the regional Hitachi Energy Research teams in Raleigh and Montreal and their activities in line with the mission, ensuring relevant, high quality results and timely transfer into commercial success.
- Ensure observance of health, safety, HR and legal regulations.
- Monitor technology, market, policy, and regulatory developments with relevance to Hitachi Energy in the region.
- Identify relevant innovative research challenges with commercial growth potential.
- Attract and recruit researchers with leadership potential.
- Build and maintain excellent relations with external and internal partners.
- Acquire 3rd party funding for some research activities with local focus.
- Promote Hitachi Energy products and technologies in joint projects with regional customers and institutions, and influence regulation and customer demand in line with the regional and global Hitachi Energy business organization.
- Ensure high quality project execution
- Ensure that organization and projects stay within agreed budgets.
- Take over topical global leadership responsibilities for Hitachi Energy Research as required.

- PhD in a relevant technical discipline and academic track record.
- Minimum 10 years related experience in R&D positions, preferably both in Research and Product Development.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Experience in people leadership.
- Exceptional analytical, management and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and spoken communication in English.
- Global experience is beneficial.
