Overview
The Freight Payment Analyst oversees transportation expense activities for annual freight spend of 132M. Freight Payment Analyst drives best practices and policies to support Hitachi's strategic transportation goals. Manage relationships with vendors (3rd party Freight Audit Payment providers, transportation service providers and audit firms) and internal customers. The Freight Payment Analyst interfaces with all parties to ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner, issues quickly brought to resolution, plus educate internal and external business partners on freight pay process.
Responsibilities
- Drive savings and technological improvement opportunities
- Audit of freight invoice to freight quote
- Lead improvements in data integrity and freight pay reporting to support transportation budgets, RFPs and routing guide compliance
- Leads corrective actions on the root causes of identified errors within the freight payment and audit process which creates delays in carrier payments
- Oversee freight claims process
- Manages daily activities of Freight Payment & Claims Analyst
- Participate in weekly top Transportation Service Provider meetings to identify and action issues related to Transportation Service Provider Accounts Receivable aging issues
- Support Transportation Service Provider Vendor Master updates
- Support Product Line invoice coding guidelines for 3rd party freight payment vendor
- Oversee creation and closing of Transportation Service Provider accounts
- Maintain carrier account listing for Hitachi Facilities
- Define long term plan and critical requirements of 3rd party freight payment service provider

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Business Administration or other related field of study
- Previous experience in freight auditing or common carrier pricing preferred
- Experience in reading and interpreting carrier contracts
- TMS experience preferred.
- Recent experience working with international transportation operations, especially Export/Import Compliance.
- Knowledge of Incoterms
