What We're Looking For

The candidate will be working within HNTB's Technology Solutions Center on the Geospatial Solutions Team. Comprised of business analysts, GIS developers, planners and engineers, this team works on the most complex geospatial applications in the transportation industry. The geospatial team develops enterprise GIS solutions, applications, and databases and coordinates with HNTB client's server and data warehouses to support and develop digital innovation solutions with a geospatial focus.
This is an intermediate level position, supervised by senior GIS development staff and team leaders.
Primary Focus Will Include:
- Develops customized GIS web applications, web services, mobile, and enterprise solutions using comprehensive geospatial knowledge, project requirements and an understanding of client needs.
- Creates and executes moderately complex system implementations according to established timeline, budget and quality expectations.
- Develops GIS web editing/mapping applications using modern frameworks such as React, Angular, Esri JavaScript API, Leaflet, OpenLayers
- Deploys customs web application/services to cloud-hosted services, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud (AWS experience preferred)
- Develop and deploys geoprocessing and related transactional web services
- Use Jira to manage project assignments, estimate LOE, track status, and Git to manage code across the team
- Conducts performance, unit, system, integration, and quality assurance testing of applications, and maintains existing applications/services
- Upgrades and migrates existing applications/services to current version/systems architecture
- Configures COTS of ArcGIS Online or Portal applications, and extends them with arcade or python scripting
- Assists with end user support and creates support documentation
- Meets with client and technology staff to define and document system requirements
- Estimates work effort and proposes development solutions
- Works closely with other developers and architects
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Expertise in the application of ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Pro
- Understanding and exposure to various databases such as Oracle or SQL Server; developing and configuring web services for data exchange
- GIS analysis skills; especially in the realm of transportation
- Familiar with scripting languages such Python and SQL
- GISP CertificationCloud Certification

Compensation Range:
$70,104.23 - $105,156.35
(may vary based on geographic location)
What You'll Need
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develops or customizes system configurations of moderately complex geospatial applications based on geospatial knowledge, the project requirements and an understanding of client needs.
- Assists the client in determining survey and mapping needs and the most effective collection methods and technologies to meet those needs. Meets with client and technology staff to define and document system requirements. Develops system configuration specifications, conceptual and logical workflow and business process diagrams for system development or customization.
- Creates and executes moderately complex system implementations according to established timeline, budget and quality expectations.
- May lead small projects of limited scope and complexity.
- Serves as a technical resource in the application of one or more geospatial platform technologies, such as Esri, Bentley, Autodesk, and Certainty 3D. Provides user support and solves moderately complex technical problems with geospatial systems.
- Codes, tests, debugs and configures solutions at a moderate difficulty level. May perform peer reviews on work performed by junior staff. Thoroughly documents and tests all work produced.
- Continually evaluates work processes and contributes to technology, methodology and process standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Geography or other related degree
- 2 years related experience
- In lieu of education, 6 years related experience
