What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate General Counsel position at Hoar?
Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage active disputes, which may consist of coordinating with outside counsel to provide necessary documents and witnesses.
- Assist project team in preparing documentation to support its position and advise during pre-dispute settlement meetings, mediation and other related arrangements.
- Review draft prime contracts and subcontracts and advise regarding proposed revisions.
- Proactively and reactively conduct legal research on legal issues.
- Review forms, policies, procedures and other related documentation employed by the company to ensure conformance with current laws and regulations. Make adjustments and recommendations for change where necessary.
- Provide legal support, advice and advocacy for internal department divisions and owners.
- Review third party subpoenas and coordinate with employees to compile and produce responsive documents.
- Manage relationships with third party service providers including outside counsel.
- A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- License to practice law in the State of Alabama with preferred experience in Construction laws
- A minimum of 3 years in the practice of law after admittance to the bar, preferably supporting and providing counsel for clients in the construction industry
- Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities
