Utility/Catering Chef
$18.00 per hour
- Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager of Hospitality, the Food Truck
Manager/ Chef operates the food truck and catering service as an entrepreneurial venture
for Hocking College. Works closely with instructors to provide teaching/educational
experience for students enrolled in the Culinary program. Activities include but are not
limited to ordering, menu and recipe development, food preparation, staffing and
supervision, and catering events for the College, held on- and off-campus. Assists in
developing employment and internship opportunities for students. Participates in student
recruitment. Develops and implements Leisure Learning programs that involve catering
and/or food truck service.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee day to day operations of the food truck, including team management and
- Maintain required records including food production, inventory, income/expense and meal
counts while working within and with the academic department at Hocking College and the
Department of Food and Beverage
- Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities
- Supervise and work all food truck operations including but not limited to food production,
cash handling, guest orders and interaction, quality control and proper sanitation
- Coordinate, plan, and schedule Food Truck and Catering Events, both on- and off- campus
- Run Front and BOH catering and banquet events, including organizing room FOH set-up,
and organizing food production schedule and staffing.
- Ensure compliance with all Health Department and ODA regulations and food safety
- Ensure compliance with all municipal regulations
- Direct the cleaning and maintenance of the food truck and equipment
- Attend weekly Food and Beverage meetings to review upcoming events, guest counts, set
up and special requests with Director of Catering.
- Instruct Catering Lab each semester and be responsible for monitoring student progress,
attendance, and grades, develop and sustain student relationships through participation in student orientation, intrusive advising, coaching, and mentorship.
- Monitor student attendance, grades, retention, classroom observations, instructor evaluations. Provide actionable information to the Dean of Workforce Development, the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development, and the Program Manager.
- Provide recruiting support to the Hospitality Program Manager for all Hospitality programs at Hocking College.
- Work with Hocking College Culinary and Hospitality student and instructors to staff events
- Assist in development, planning and implementation of kitchen operations
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills
- Associate Degree in field.
