Description
Reporting to theDean of the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies, the Vice Dean serves as a member of the administrative staff of the School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies. This position provides assistance to the Dean in the administration of the university’s nursing, physician assistant and cardiopulmonary perfusion programs and other programs administered within the school, continuously programing and monitoring their professional field and program standards to improve the programs’ curriculum based on these findings and other matters as assigned in accordance with the mission, values, and vision of the university.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversees the innovative, collaborative and collective vision for the School set forth by the Dean.
Ensures high-quality academic programs; building relationships with partners outside the university; and promoting and advocating for the School.
Recruits, selects, and ensures equity within the Nursing and Physician Assistant faculty and administrative staff.
Proposes recommendations to the Dean for appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure.
Participates in the development of the culture, innovation, responsibility and commitment to the School mission, vision, and values by encouraging active participation of members.
Participates in local, state, and national academic and clinical practice meetings.
Participates in the annual budget planning process for the School budget, including operating and capital expenditures and guides chairs in the budget process.
Collaborates with the Dean in fostering the relationship between the School and the university system, including, but not limited to, acting as a liaison with campus academic programs, departments and administrators.
Engages with community partnerships.
Implements and evaluates compliance with academic policies and procedures for the School in collaboration with the faculty and chairs.
Acts as a liaison with the national and state accrediting agencies in collaboration with the Dean.
Supports and advises the Dean on matters related to national and state accreditation for the university’s nursing and physician assistant programs in collaboration with the faculty and chairs.
Serves on the university committees when applicable.
Participates in activities that facilitate professional expertise in the areas of administration, teaching and maintenance of competence.
Follows and communicates accurately School and university policies, procedures and rationales.
Innovates effective teaching/learning principles for student success in the School programs.
Develops, implements and evaluates program curricula in collaboration with the faculty and chairs in accordance with national and state regulations, accreditation standards and university policy.
Verifies that syllabi are utilizing updated competencies, behavioral objectives and instructional materials.
Reviews suggestions for changes in curriculum as per the faculty and chairs.
Implements and contributes to practices that support diversity, equity and inclusion within the Hofstra community.
Performs other additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree in nursing, business, education, leadership, public health, or a similarly related field is required.
A Master in Science in nursing degree with clinical training as a Nurse Practitioner.
Current nurse practitioner licensure or license-eligibility in New York at the time of hire and current, active national certification as a nurse practitioner.
At least five years of progressive clinical experience as a nurse practitioner.
At least five years of progressive experience managing projects, engaging with executives, and providing high-level administrative support.
Strong understanding and knowledge of nursing education, physician assistant education and health professions standards and regulation.
Demonstrated ability to create innovative academic curricular and programs.
Demonstrated experience and expertise working with diverse, underserved and/or underrepresented student and faculty populations.
Executive position in the practice partner.
The individual must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage confidential and sensitive information with good judgment.

Salary/Salary Range
$160,000-$190,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.
Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
