ABOUT THE ROLE

Holcim Us, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Plant Mechanic to support operations at the Asphalt plant located in Clinton, Maryland. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. Also maintain, install and repairs mechanical equipment and machinery. This position typically works from 6:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Overtime will be required and shift may be adjusted for business needs.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Inspects condition and operation of plant equipment and performs necessary repairs and adjustments. Reports required repairs or other findings to Area Manager.
  • Adheres to all safety, environmental and company policies and procedures in completing daily tasks, and completes all required paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Completes work orders in a timely manner; installing, repairing and fabricating materials out of metal; ensuring availability and functioning of required items; and ensuring safety and resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape.
  • Performs the appropriate plant equipment inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance for both fixed and mobile equipment.
  • Responsible for preparing and welding steel and aluminum structures, appendages and equipment.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment including handling welding repairs.
  • Conducts routine inspections of plant and mobile equipment and report findings to Area Manager.
  • Prepares Plant reports as required and maintain an inventory of regularly used repair supplies or equipment.
  • Assists personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Responds to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Performs required emergency repairs on production equipment required to address plant breakdowns.
  • Performs repairs as required on plant processing equipment and performs maintenance on plant grounds as required.
  • Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety.
  • Rebuild or fabricate parts; repair electrical equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Required Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in plant or industrial environment.

Proficient in hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems

Certified Welder (CW,CW,CWE or CWRT)

Knowledge of hot work permit systems protocol

OSHA certified

Ability to read and understand blueprints

Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail

Required Computer and Software Skills: Basic computer skills

Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.

Ability to lift 50lbs

Reliable transportation

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
