SUMMARY OF POSITION
The buyer is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company's needs for indirect materials and services, fixed assets, and tooling, and select production materials and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost quality and at delivery competitive levels consistent with company policy and performance standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create purchase orders by analyzing the available price/delivery data to choose the best vendor/manufacturer for each product.
- Monitor the purchase order progress with vendors to ensure the expected deadlines are met.
- Report material progress to other departments in weekly meetings or as required.
- Interface with other departments to discuss/resolve any issues that may arise with any product that could hinder the completion of a job.
- Analyze vendor/manufacturer performance based on quality, delivery, and price as well as other pertinent data to maintain a strong supply chain.
- Interface with vendors in order to maintain a high level of support through all phases/aspects of the customer/vendor relationship.
- Inform other departments of new products that manufactures are introducing.
- Adheres to purchasing policies, processes, and procedures.
- Monitor and clean purchasing reports.
- Perform other duties which may be required by supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Intermediate to Expert user of Microsoft Excel. Also using Microsoft Visual.
- Intermediate user of ERP software.
- 1 to 3 years of Purchasing/Buying experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
