Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp provides “a different kind of healing” to more than 20,000 seriously ill children and family members annually - all completely free of charge. For many of these children and families, Hole in the Wall provides multiple Camp experiences throughout the year at the facility in Ashford, Conn., in more than 40 hospitals and clinics, directly in camper homes and communities, and through other outreach activities across the Northeast and mid-Atlantic.

Our Associate Director of Creative will work with our Marketing and Communications team, their staff colleagues, and our community of stakeholders to identify, capture, and create materials that will reflect the power of our mission, support the needs of our development, program, and administrative teams, and inspire involvement.
Our Associate Director of Creative Design can expect to…
- Be responsible for the art direction/design of brand vision developing original graphics, copy, website content, social media, video, and other marketing materials.
- Comprehend communication strategies through collaboration with Associate Director of Digital Communications, Director of Communications and across internal departments.
- Collaborate with multiple departments within the organization to ensure creative cohesion.
- Produce designs for teams across departments based on different communication channels. Proficiency in mainstream design software (Adobe Creative Suite) is essential.
- Act as the main force of visual execution and be responsible for quality control.
- Shoot, produce and edit photography and video.
- Ensure that the past, current and future assets are organized and aptly available for usage (within MarComm department and across organization).
- Proactively determine innovative ways to use video, photo, and other media assets to support Camp's organizational goals.
- Present ideas to senior management and produce materials as approved.
- Stretch all creative muscles to ideate and design assets that present our story.
- Direct outside vendors to capture and bring to life the stories of camp.
- Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Our Associate Director of Creative Design should have…
- Proven working experience as Art Director and/or five or more years of professional experience in art direction/graphic design.
- Demonstrable skills with a strong portfolio.
- Coursework and/or degree in communications, visual arts or a related filed is desirable, but there is no minimum education requirement.
- A minimum of three years' experience in design, art direction, photography, videography and producing associated content.
- A proficiency with design software including: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, After Effects, Animate), Apple (iMovie, Keynote, Pages), Final Cut Pro.
- A proficiency with designing for social platforms - Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
- A proficiency with designing for digital platforms - Website (front end design and implementation), and email.
- A strong, creative vision with attention to business objectives.
- A willingness and ability to set an example of protecting Hole in the Wall Gang Camp's reputation.
- The ability to establish positive relationships with a variety of people in multicultural environments.
- An ability to bring a sense of joy and optimism to the work and the working environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- An ability to stay motivated and constantly improve professional skills in creating work.
- Humility and an ability to respect and trust others to create a comfortable working environment.
- A willingness and ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions.
- A willingness and ability to operate computer for extended periods with appropriate breaks.
- A valid Driver's license and driving record which meets HITWG insurance carrier requirements.
- The ability to lift equipment up to 100 pounds.
