Job Overview

Responsible for the overall success of the hotel, meeting or exceeding objectives and goals for revenue and profit and ensuring guest satisfaction. Manages all areas of the hotel in accordance with brand standards to achieve a friendly atmosphere of superior guest service and provide quality. They will oversee all aspects of the hotel operations including guest relations, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, finances, team building, and staff development.

Essential Job Functions

  • Guest Relations
  • Be available and approachable to all guests
  • Ensure that departments achieve or exceed guest’s service expectations
  • Be proactive when it comes to handling guest concerns
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy to all guests
  • Staffing
  • Promote teamwork and group morale
  • Lead by example through self-confidence, energy, and enthusiasm
  • Post openings to fill open positions as necessary
  • Meet with staff for their annual reviews
  • Develop a good work environment that attracts potential employees
  • Ensure that training for new team members are thorough
  • Monitor employee recognition programs
  • Financial
  • Achieve budgeted revenue and profit goals, balancing cost with guest satisfaction
  • Comply with all corporate accounting procedures
  • Aggressively minimize accident, workmen’s compensation and unemployment claims and their resulting costs
  • Oversee all property accounting functions, including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, petty cash, and payroll and ordering procedures.
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Implement and encourage hotel participation in corporate national sales and marketing programs
  • Continually solicit new business for the hotel
  • Monitor group block and direct bill processes
  • Review period end reports
  • Operations
  • Perform hands-on duties as needed to deliver guest services
  • Provide a safe working environment
  • Audit to ensure guest rooms, public spaces, grounds, work and kitchen areas meet sanitation and cleanliness standards
  • Ensure cross-training of all employees
  • Administrative
  • Ensure property hiring practices comply with I-9, ADA and EEO requirements
  • Maintain current licenses and permits as prescribed by local, state, and federal agencies
  • Scheduling of management team includes coverage of weekend and evening hours
  • Carry out all reasonable requests of which you are capable of performing
  • Conducts reviews in a timely fashion

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High ethical standards, analytical ability, and excellent communicator—written & verbal
  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership
  • Able to delegate responsibilities
  • Background in the hospitality industry
  • Flexibility to be on the property whenever needed to ensure full staffing
  • Computer literate
  • Exceedingly organized and efficient with the ability to multitask
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to problem solve in order to resolve guest issues that may arise
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations
  • Will be required to work holidays and weekends
