Banquet Captain
The Holiday Inn Madison at the American Center is now hiring a full-time Banquet Captain. We're looking for a friendly, guest-focused person to join our team in our Banquets department! This position is responsible for setting up and taking down all meeting/banquet events. This full-time position requires flexible availability including weekends and holidays.

Main duties:
  • Works closely with the Hotel Catering Manager on a regular basis to ensure that all functions are conducted as requested by the client.
  • Will collaborate with the Executive Chef and Bar Manager as needed for events that will require their services.
  • Works closely with the hotel set-up staff to ensure that rooms are set up as detailed and completed in a timely manner.  
  • Follows up to ensure that meeting and function setups are correct as detailed.
  • Assisting managers and organizers with planning the layout and coordination of events.
  • Welcomes event planner upon arrival and confirms that the function is set the way they desire and then reviews daily details. 
  • Developing and providing staff with the necessary training, including customer service, and serving etiquette.
  • Running the floor and coordinating the food and drink service by liaising with the kitchen and service staff.
  • Monitoring the inventory of supplies, equipment, and furniture.
  • Tending to guests' requests, questions, and complaints.
  • Ensuring that the venue and facilities remain neat and clean.
  • Ensuring that all applicable safety regulations are communicated and adhered to.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A degree in hospitality or similar is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a banquet captain or similar preferred
  • Excellent leadership abilities and the ability to manage many staff members.
  • Great time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • The ability to provide an excellent level of customer service, even in stressful situations.
  • Physically fit with good stamina for physical tasks such as moving and lifting furniture and standing for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, and on weekends and holidays.
