Graphic Designer

General Statement of Function
The Graphic Designer has the responsibility of layout and design of graphic projects including printed and digital materials for Holmes Community College, Alumni Association and Development Foundation. This is a district wide function that has the ability to be housed on the Ridgeland, Grenada or Goodman Campus.

Job Description
1. Work with defined assets to grow and develop Holmes’ brand.
2. Consult with individuals to collect information and gather materials to determine the scope of a project and provide design recommendations in accordance with college standards.
3. Apply design principles to multiple aspects of a marketing campaign developing an idea and executing the final project.
4. Contribute to social media engagement to recruit future students and inform alumni, family and friends.
5. Produce graphic design for advertisements, billboards, newspapers, magazines, brochures, media guides, web pages, student portal, digital media campaigns, and any other marketing/recruiting materials as required.
6. Develop graphics for a wide range of HCC promotional events, such as fundraisers, community outreach events, open houses and tours, press conferences, exhibits, and product/service fairs, as appropriate.
7. Coordinate within the department as well as with the Web/Media Specialist to ensure deadlines and timely delivery of graphics are maintained for the website and student portal.
8. Ensure operation of equipment by scheduling maintenance with vendors responsible for maintenance as well as maintaining supply inventory.
9. Negotiate with vendors for quality and price.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field with graphic design experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to clearly and persuasively communicate with college constituents.
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment to foster a strong College identity.
  • Commitment to customer service with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and coordinate projects.
  • Desire to learn new techniques and software
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current marketing practices and trends.
  • A strong candidate will have knowledge of video and photography skills
