BIM Manager
HOLT Architects, located in Ithaca and Syracuse, NY, is seeking a full-time, experienced BIM Manager to join our team of designers. This person will be responsible for providing technological leadership on all aspects of Revit and production and will be key to keeping the firm coordinated and productive. The position entails the maintenance of our BIM libraries, Revit best practices, and desktop support. The ideal candidate is an Architect / Architectural Designer who is also a Revit expert. This position will be responsible for refining and updating all office & project templates, families, and libraries and providing active and direct assistance to Revit project teams. This person will also develop processes and ongoing in-house training for individuals and groups with skillsets ranging from Revit novices to Intermediate users, emphasizing best practices and personal lessons learned. We anticipate that this teammate will divide time equally between participating as an active project contributor and providing firm-wide Revit leadership, assistance, and support.
Position Responsibilities:
- Update system-wide BIM libraries with appropriate graphic and written assets from current building codes, energy codes, and requirements of regulatory agencies.
- Enforce the usage of these digital library templates and assets per office digital guidelines across all our projects.
- Develop and draft architectural and engineering site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details, assists management in preparing proposals, and generate correspondence for clients and project managers.
- Contribute to the documentation, dissemination, and monitoring of standards, best practices, and industry advancements.
- Participate in occasional team meetings to help resolve project issues such as coordination, scheduling, and technical concerns. Assist project teams with complex modeling issues.
- Be responsible for providing/sourcing Revit training through a combination of onsite, remote, and/or online training courses – geared toward making the most effective use of Revit in the architectural process.
- Conduct periodic intra-office coordination meetings relating to Revit.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings to identify tasks and issues relating to project teams and collaboration; identify and resolve project-specific issues in setting up the Revit model. Establish a project Revit system for all new projects with the team leaders.
- Research developments in the industry to “keep ahead of the curve” so that all our Revit users have the appropriate tools & skillsets to be productive.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or completion of trade school or equivalent formal training.
- 6 years AEC working experience with at least 3 years in an architecture firm.
- Ability to encourage and train effectively and tactfully, in-person and via web conference.
- Extensive knowledge of Revit
- Familiarity with Enscape, Unify, Matterport Scanning, SketchUp, Blue Beam, Navisworks (collision detection), and other 3D software is a plus.
- Experience with the MS Office suite and other business software (Microsoft 365 a plus)
This position will report directly to one of the owners of the firm, and an ideal candidate will quickly earn the trust and confidence to make decisions on behalf of the firm somewhat independently. Due to the nature of the responsibilities, you may be expected to answer technical questions outside of normal business hours or work extra hours to execute a project on the network that cannot be done while other employees need to be working.
The BIM Manager must either have an Associate’s degree or completion of trade school or equivalent formal training. The candidate must be proactive in taking ownership of tasks assigned, be able to meet deadlines, have good written and verbal communication skills, and possess a strong desire to excel and advance in a fast-paced, challenging, and client-focused environment.
