Holt Truck Centers is seeking a Master Truck Servcie Technician for our Irving, Texas location. This position will provide exceptional customer service while inspecting, repairing, and providing maintenance to trucks, trailers, and attachments for On-Highway vehicles. Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoots and repairs On-Highway trucks both Cat and OEM
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
- Travels to and from the job site and travels to retrieve parts
- Listens and understands customer complaints, quotes and explains repair costs, and schedules appointments with customers while providing clear communications
- Performs major engine repairs and related equipment repairs
- Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks
- Prepares required documentation needed to complete repair orders
- Performs Failure Analysis of failed engine components
- Orders parts needed to complete repairs
- Completes and files documentation necessary to justify billing
- Responds to customer needs after hours when needed
- Maintains a P Factor of 120% or greater
- Maintains less than .25% rework for years total sales
- Provides training and mentoring to Junior Technicians
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and ability to explain how various systems function on trucks and trailers
- Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and On-Highway Truck electronic systems
- Operation and control skills of equipment or systems
- Ability to operate a conventional forklift
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repairs and jobs
- Ability to learn and navigate various software for both CAT and OEM
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to be self-starting and motivated
- Ability to operate an On-Highway Truck on public roads
- Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
- Ability to read, write, and understand information
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 10 to 15 years’ experience required; 15 years’ or more preferred
- CDL – Class A or B required
- ASE Certifications preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Travel:
- Travel up to 15% and overnight travel may be required
- Regional Travel only
Additional Requirements:
- Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job
- Must have a clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Significant amount of time sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, climbing, and reaching
- Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity
- Communicates with customers, service managers, and co-workers
- Constantly reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals while performing the job
- Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 70 lb
- Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
Work Environment:
- Frequently works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and exposed to weather extremes that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
- Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings
- Exposure to hazardous conditions and contaminants
- Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting
- Exposure to high noise levels
- Works in an enclosed vehicle or equipment
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
