Position: Upper Elementary (Third Grade through Sixth Grade)
Employment Status: Full-Time; September through June (Availability beginning August 26, 2024)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Third and fourth grades are generally self-contained, but in some cases partner teachers swap teaching responsibilities for a particular subject. Fifth and sixth grades are departmentalized. Fifth and sixth grade teachers teach English, science, social studies, math, religion or a combination of those subjects to fifth and sixth graders.
Serve as a homeroom teacher
Implement the designed curriculum and programs; prior experience with any of the following Great Minds’ Wit & Wisdom or Reveal Math is a plus
Prepare classroom lessons and activities according to best practices
Adapt and modify techniques and materials for effectiveness as necessary
Create a safe, nurturing classroom utilizing the school’s social-emotional learning program
Monitor and communicate student academic and developmental progress to parents
Maintain accurate and complete student records and maintain the confidentiality of those records.
Communicate clearly, consistently and positively with parents via all appropriate mediums.
Attend to assigned supervisory duties (i.e., arrival and dismissal, lunch, recess, etc.). Attend faculty/staff meetings, in-service training and parent meetings. Participate with other faculty members in curriculum planning.

Work collaboratively with your partner or team especially on teaching and learning cycles Maintain current knowledge of educational research and trends; attend professional development conferences, seminars, trainings and in-service activities.
Qualifications
BA in education or related field
Prior teaching experience preferred
A willingness to engage in meaningful collaboration with colleagues
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
Well-organized
Ability to handle sensitive, timely, and critical matters that require good judgment, respect, and discretion
Working Conditions and Environment
The responsibilities of the position will be fulfilled in a school environment that may require:
Extended periods of standing
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions
Lifting up to 25 lbs
Carrying materials and equipment
Elevated noise levels
