Job Title: Quality Coordinator

Position Summary: The Quality Coordinator will provide leadership for the development; implementation, communication, and maintenance of Quality initiatives and indicators. The Quality Coordinator will oversee the structure and operation of the Clinical Quality Assurance Team (CQA Team). The team will focus on the delivery, documentation, abstraction and reporting of inpatient and outpatient quality indicators and increasing initiatives. The CQA Team will focus on the delivery of high quality care and optimizing quality indicator performance. The Quality Coordinator will be the contact person for external agencies which includes: HQSI, JC and the DHSS. The Quality Coordinator will serve as the liaison to other hospital departments and personnel who have a role in the clinical quality assurance process. This includes Health Information Management, Information Systems, Medical Staff, Nursing and Pharmacy.
Requirements:
Registered Nurse licensed in State of New Jersey, BSN. Analytical and problem solving along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of Interqual and Milliman guidelines/criteria. 5-10 years experience in Quality and Performance Improvement processes, experience in a hospital setting and familiar with CMS regulatory requirements. Compliance with continuing education requirements as mandated by the State Licensing Board, CPHQ certified.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs quality functions and activities to achieve compliance with regulatory agencies
- Plans, implements a quality program with goals to increase compliance
- Identifies and collects patterns of over and under utilization, delays in services and inappropriate use of resources
- Evaluates the measurement of outcomes to determine priorities for improving systems and processes. Intervenes to prevent noncompliance
- Reports physician issues related to quality measures
- Educates medical and hospital staff regarding new measures and hospital initiatives
- Conducts internal and external reviews for compliance
- Maintains up to date knowledge of quality requirements and reporting
- Reviews and approves transfers from acute care facilities and ensures transfer agreement forms are obtained
- Completes staff evaluations and competency annually
- Participates on various committees to share and report quality outcomes and potential quality issues
- Establishes collaborative effective working relationships with members of the management team striving for the overall success of the hospital
- Initiates and accepts assignments/projects and follows through to completion on time and within budget. Adapts to challenges and changing circumstances as needed
- Develops and manages budget and expenses effectively and demonstrates responsible stewardship of Medical Center resources
- Acts as a role model for staff. Hires qualified staff and develops them to their full potential
- Welcome feedback and suggestions for improvement. Handles problems in an effective manner with discretion
- Practices uniformity, consistency, and fairness when making decisions. Conducts valuable annual performance evaluations as per policy. Rewards exceptional performance and documents performance that does not meet Medical Center standards
