Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program Coordinator

Seeking an energetic, creative, and committed individual to join the Resident Services team who will be responsible for enrollment and case management of HHA's Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency Program participants. Additionally, this person will be tasked with providing supportive services to the residents of state-aided family and elderly/disabled housing communities. This position will work collaboratively with Homeownership and Financial Education Coordinator and the HCV Family Self-Sufficiency Program Coordinator and report directly to the Director of Resident Empowerment and Community Programming.

Principal Duties:

1. Recruits assisted families for participation in the FSS program and facilitate an effective orientation and onboarding.

2. Completes full assessment of candidates for the FSS program to determine client's needs develops a detailed individual training and services plan, and fully executes a contract of participation for each family.

3. Coordinates resources for program participants that address key community needs such as remaining housed, health and wellness, metal health, economic mobility, and youth development.

4. Maintains frequent contact with participating individuals and families to provide support, direction, and monitor progress.

5. Conducts annual interim recertifications, calculates appropriate rent for residents participating in the program.

6. Maintains complete and accurate participant data, escrow account records, and participant files and complete monthly report to be provided to direct supervisor.

7. Documents up-to-date participant records and case notes in participant file or other software system.

8. Establishes and maintains working relationships with local service providers and consistently explores opportunities to build connections with prospective community-based local partners.

9. Assist with resident associations and periodically assists with social events for other public housing residents.

10. Provides supportive services to residents of state-aided public housing programs through outreach, engagement, and advocacy.

11. Assists director/supervisor with summer youth employment program and other activities and programming to benefit residents.

12. Possess ability to create event or informational flyers and development systems to distribute information to residents.

13. Work collaboratively with other internal departments as needed, assist with information dissemination on a periodic basis.

14. Responsible for contributing to and submitting data for all required monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

15. Participates in establishing and supporting Program Coordinating Committee (PCC) and assists with maintaining FSS Action Plan.

16. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrates sensitivity and tact interpersonal relationships.

7. Willingness to work flexible hours, including periodic evenings as needed.

Experience and Training:

Position calls for strong knowledge, skills and abilities, as may be gained by at least a high school education or equivalent, or two-to-four year college degree with a major in human services, social work, education, counseling and development, administration, or related field. 2-5 years equivalent training or on the job experience strongly considered. General knowledge of or experience in public or affordable housing encouraged. Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required. Bilingual English/Spanish candidate strongly preferred.

The Family Self-Sufficiency Program Coordinator position is grant funded and dependent on continued funding through HUD.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $55,213.00 per year
