Summary
:

The Program Coordinator manages the day-to-day functions of the Foster Grandparent Program for King and Snohomish Counties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to volunteer management, maintaining volunteer station relationships, and overseeing community Advisory Council, community outreach and engagement, and policies and procedure.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
:

  • Maintain and support volunteer stations: Increase community support of program by adding additional stations. Prepare, maintain, and renew Memorandums of Understanding with all volunteer stations. Maintain regular communications with stations to ensure compliance and further develop existing station relationships. Visit all volunteer stations annually. Coordinate with community volunteer stations in volunteer recruitment, training, placement.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit volunteers and provide on-boarding training for new volunteers. Provide ongoing supervision of 30-40 volunteers. Address volunteer conflicts as situations arise. Arrange formal and regular recognition for Foster Grandparents, Advisory Council members, organizations, and individuals who have contributed to the program. Provide support for all Foster Grandparent volunteers in the program. Maintain volunteer assignments, timesheets, and manage communications log in Volunteer Reporter system whenever significant interactions with volunteers occur outside of monthly meeting.
  • Community Engagement & Outreach: Enhance the total project effort through active involvement with community organizations, other national service programs, and other senior and volunteer programs. Give recruitment presentations regularly at various other agencies and venues and to potential stations; be the face of the program with any media opportunities, radio shows, podcasts, news spots, staff tables at community fairs. Recruit members for the project’s Advisory Council. Meet with the council quarterly to address project needs in the community. Run monthly volunteer meetings. Locate speakers / trainers for monthly volunteer meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned: Maintain knowledge of current information on programs and services available to children with exceptional needs and older adults. Keep program in compliance with AmeriCorps Seniors and Homage volunteer policies and procedures. Maintain awareness of programmatic data and public policy affecting program areas. Maintain regular and routine attendance; attend and participate in Homage internal meetings as required. Perform other related responsibilities as necessary and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field, or a combination of education and experience which would provide sufficient background to succeed in the role.

  • One year’s volunteer management experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with older adults and/or children with exceptional needs.

  • Ability to work with community agency leaders.

  • Effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); comfortable navigating in Microsoft Windows environment and using internet browsers.

  • Able to travel to various volunteer stations throughout King and Snohomish County.

  • Able to be organized and successfully manage multiple tasks/projects.

  • Able to communicate effectively on the phone, in person, in writing, and in public venues.

  • Demonstrated interviewing skills with empathy for and sincere interest in working with older persons.

  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Able to problem solve and work under deadlines.

  • Intermediate computer skills that include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Able to work courteously and effectively with older persons, children, community groups, volunteers, diverse populations from various ethnic groups, and a multi-disciplinary staff.

  • Use of own vehicle required; mileage is reimbursed.

  • Excellent map reading/navigation skills and knowledge of Snohomish and King Counties.

  • Valid Washington State driver's license; no at-fault accidents within the last 3 years.


Absent any regulatory or contractual requirement for specific education/certification, other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.


Preferred Qualifications
:

  • General knowledge of the aging process and at least two years of full-time paid or volunteer experience working with older adults and/or children.

  • Prior experience with Americorps Seniors or Corporation for National and Community Services (CNCS) programs.

  • Experience with diverse communities

  • Fluency in other languages in addition to English

  • Valid CPR certification


Work environment and physical demands
:

  • This is a hybrid position. Initial 2 weeks are onsite training at Homage’s office in Lynnwood. Following training, 2 work days per week are required in the Homage office.

  • This work is performed in an office environment, staff's place of residence, and/or in public venues.

  • When necessary, the ability to work in a semi-open office setting with frequent in-person interactions.

  • Must be able to use full range of senses including hearing, sight, touch and smell as needed to complete the job's essential duties.

  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds occasionally related to equipment/supplies for public presentations.

  • Work requires occasional travel away from the office during normal business hours.


SUMMARY OF BENEFITS

Employees working 25 hours or more are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, basic life, and critical illness insurance, with an increased cost share for employees scheduled for 25-29 hours/week. Employees working 20 hours or more per week receive 11 designated paid holidays plus 2 "floating holidays" per year, as well as paid vacation and sick time. Employees age 21 and older are able to enroll in our 401K plan upon hire and, after one year and at least 1000 hours worked, will be eligible for our matching program.
