What are the responsibilities and job description for the In Home Caregiver position at Home Instead?

Fern Creek/Jeffersontown
Middletown/Prospect/Anchorage
Care Pros provide a wide range of personal care and support to a variety of people. This support generally entails helping people with their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs). These activities range from bathing and grooming to planning and cooking meals to assisting with taking medications. Care Pros generally work with seniors, people recovering from surgery, disabled adults, veterans, and younger adults. The care provided can take place either in a facility or in the client’s home
Job Responsibilities
- Promote and adhere to Home Instead’s Mission by enhancing the lives of aging adults and their families
- Promote and adhere to Home Instead’s Vision of helping people live their best life in the face of aging
- Address client needs with respect and dignity
- Assist clients with ADLs, including bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, and using the bathroom
- Actively engage clients through conversation and companionship
- Engage with clients in a manner that promotes their independence and maintains their dignity.
- Assist clients with IADLs, including meal preparation, planning, and grocery shopping.
- Perform light housekeeping duties.
- Help clients with physical therapy exercises.
- Report any unusual incidents or behavior.
- Administer medications as outlined.
- Maintain a safe environment for clients.
- Represent Home Instead well by building positive relationships with client family members and/or facility staff
- Create and effectively fulfill a daily care plan for clients daily documenting results in client care plan binder
- Advocate for client by reporting any potential signs of abuse, neglect, or safety concerns
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong relationship, communication, customer service, sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain appropriate patient confidentiality.
- Previous experience required.
- High School graduate or GED
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to lift, push, pull 25 pounds and bend, twist, stoop, kneel and reach.
- Must hold an Active Driver’s License and have current Car Insurance.
- Reliable transportation.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
