Job Summary:
The primary role of the Staff Nurse is to provide safe and compassionate high quality resident care under the guidance of the Administrator, Vice President of Nursing, Director of Nursing, Neighborhood Nurse Manager, RN Clinical Supervisor, and the physician. The Staff Nurse provides direct nursing care and oversees all aspects of resident care in accordance with current applicable federal, state, local, and facility standards, guidelines and regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide direct medical and personal care that is compliant with physician orders and professional standards of care.
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments of assigned residents at the beginning of each shift and when there is a change in resident status.
Review the resident specific plan of care frequently to ensure all physician orders are being followed.
Provide direct nursing interventions such as tube feedings, medication administration, suctioning, dressing application and changes, ordering and obtaining lab specimens, end of life care, etc. in guidance with established policies, procedures and desktop instructions.
Ensure accurate and concise documentation of all care provided in the EHR.
Oversee the care provided by the certified nursing assistants by being a resource as well as providing support and assistance as needed.
Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies, procedures and desktop instructions as assigned.
Identify and communicate patient status to the RN Clinical Supervisor and physicians while keeping the resident’s parent/guardian informed of any new orders or changes in status.
Work collaboratively with the physicians and other disciplines to maintain optimal health and quality of life for each resident.
Maintain and promote a positive atmosphere of warmth, collaboration and cooperation respecting residents’ rights to confidentiality, individuality, and privacy at all times.
Attend and participate in departmental meetings, mandatory in-services and training courses.
Support nursing department in meeting financial objectives by always utilizing resources judiciously.
Maintain compliance with proper infection control practices, precautions and safety procedures at all times.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong understanding or willingness to learn long-term skilled nursing care federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and requirements.
Education and Experience:
Associates Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree is required.
Unencumbered and current Commonwealth of Kentucky Registered Nurse license is required.
Current CPR/Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification is required and provided.
Minimal 6 months experience as a direct care nurse in an acute care or long term care setting preferred.
