What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabrication and Welding Scheduler position at Homecrest Outdoor Living?
Job Summary: Coordinate, schedule and prioritize the workflow for Welding and Fabrication
Departments to ensure on time production of product to meet department goals and customer order deadlines.
Essential Functions:
1. Process all fabrication and welding tickets while ensuring accurate inventories. Create a ticket reprint procedure to avoid issuing duplicate tickets. Make sure component inventories are relieved appropriately, and that completed items are received accurately, according to documented procedures. Make sure that all production generated scrap is accounted for appropriately.
2. Run the welding component shortage report daily. Identify welding tickets that can be welded, and those that have shortages, for the next day’s production. Work closely with the Welding Supervisor and the Fabrication Supervisor to communicate fabrication priorities and fabrication shortages.
3. Run assembly component shortage daily. Identify fabrication part numbers short for paint/assembly schedules and communicate fabrication priorities to the supervisor accordingly.
4. Assist Fabrication Lead/Supervisor to prioritize fabrication work by employee/work area. Provide fabrication work schedules that supply the data to allow the Fabrication Lead to assign work schedules for the following day.
5. Sub-divide and prioritize weld schedules for the next day by welding work cell. Provide schedules to the Welding Lead for employee assignment and manning balance.
6. Run MRP release reports for fabricated items and welding build to stock items. Release new orders as required, and to balance workload within fabrication and welding. Review projected departmental hours up to one quarter out. When possible, move up work to level load requirements as much as possible.
7. Follow all Inventory Procedures for identifying, investigating and correcting inventory discrepancies. Work with the Fabrication Lead and Welding Lead to cycle count, investigate root cause, and properly adjust inventories when discrepancies are identified.
8. Work closely with Materials Team (Inventory/Purchasing) to ensure proper flow of raw materials.
9. Run daily inventory audits (negatives & unrelieved components) for welding and fabrication. Investigate and fix outstanding issues.
10. Work with Fabrication and Welding Supervisor to develop improved methods of department work scheduling.
11. Initiate the daily MRP update and daily labor report.
12. Ensure proper follow up and follow through on any process or part related changes, including ECOs.
Other duties:
· Keep facilities, materials and work area clean and orderly
· Perform all other duties as assigned
· Work required overtime as needed
Required education and training:
· Must be able to read, write, and communicate competently in English using oral, written skills and must be able to follow standard work instructions.
· Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills, ability to facilitate communication between departments and must be able to work well with coworkers without conflict.
· Must be able to operate a computer keyboard and retain computer and software training as related to job duties described above including computer programs.
· Must be dependable as it relates to attendance and punctuality and must have the ability to retain knowledge from on-the-job training for the variety of job tasks trained in.
· Must be self-motivated to investigate discrepancies, requests, and concerns, as well as collaborate with other departments in a helpful, professional, and prompt manner.
