NOTICE OF AN OPEN POSITION
within the job classifications represented by the MEA/HCESPA
CLASSIFICATION: Library / Technology Para Educator; Category 5
LOCATION: Sonoma Elementary
Principal – Shalen King-Short
HOURS: Minimum of 6 hours per day
PAY RATE: Per Master Contract, Respective Step; Step 1 is $12.94/hour
May earn an additional .25 cents / hour premium with an associate’s degree or higher education or passage of the MTTC (or equivalent) test in reading, writing, and math
STARTING DATE: August 17, 2022
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Prefer someone with an Associate’s degree or relevant work experience, Must be willing to continue to renew and develop new skills. Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, community members, and other employees of the district. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to operate personal computer. Ability to problem solve, multi-task and organize. Must be self-directed, self-motivated and have the ability to work with constant interruptions. Regularly required to meet deadlines and occasionally interacts with the public and staff in addition to meeting multiple demands from several people. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Coordinate activities in the elementary Media Center as well as provide 1st level technology support to staff and students within the building to meet their educational goals while ensuring minimal interruption to the learning environment and operations of the building. Must be committed to maintaining a high level of customer service and confidentiality. This position works closely with the District Technology Department.

Oversee the operation the library media center including but not limited to:
-
Ordering/Processing/shelving/inventory/repair of reading materials
- Assists with library correspondence, book orders/reports/overdue notices/book fairs/reading activities/etc.
- Maintain an efficient circulation procedure as well as assisting staff and students in locating materials.
- Facilitates, assists, and helps supervise individuals and groups of student using the media center
- .Manage building help desk requests and provide assistance on all district technologies to staff and students

Identify, research and resolve technology-related problems in the building
- Responsible for preparing and testing technology necessary for building presentations (i.e. staff meetings, professional development, guest speakers, etc.)
- Facilitate, manage, and support the collection, distribution, and storage of student devices and issues related to copy machines
- Ability to adapt and learn new technologies needed to train and support staff and students in the use of educational technologies.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion to operate computers or office machines including the lamination machine; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk. The employee may frequently push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds such as TV/VCR carts and boxes of books. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and ability to tell differences among colors. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work is performed indoors. May be exposed to book/paper dust, public illnesses, and bodily fluids.
