Title: Accountant
Status: Full Time (Exempt)
Schedule: Typical schedule will be Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance required
- 3-5 years of experience in general ledger, accruals, financial analysis, month end close, and budgeting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications, specifically Excel
- Strong Knowledge of GAAP
- Experience in accounting ERP system (Sage Intacct is a plus), HRM database software (Ultipro is a plus)
Reports to: CFO
Responsibilities: (the following is an overview of the responsibilities of the position and should not be considered all inclusive):
- Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions.
- Review and analyze detail of general ledger, research budget discrepancies, prepare adjusting entries as needed.
- Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
- Assist with preparation of internal and external financial statements.
- Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger account balances.
- Perform monthly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses.
- Assist in preparation of year end data needed & various annual and quarterly reporting to outside agencies.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules.
- Provide management with information as requested to support decision-making.
- Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
- Assist VP of Finance/CFO and Controller with the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets and coordinate departmental budget information.
- Assist VP of Finance/CFO and Controller with evaluation of prospective residents’ ability to meet the financial criteria for admission.
- Remain current in knowledge of applicable accounting practices, laws governing accounting practices as well as industry trends.
- Assist in supervision, direction and development of accounting department staff.
- Maintain a knowledge of the accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll systems to serve a supporting role as needed.
Experience
Preferred- 3 - 5 years: General Ledger, accruals, financial analysis, month end close, & budgeting
