Position Overview
Play a key technical support role on major capital projects (pre-FEED, FEED, EPCm)
- Study, design, and specification of chemical process plants such as fluorine products and specialty chemicals.
- Responsible for heat and material balance, the development of process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, system design parameters, and design or rating of equipment and apparatus such as heat exchangers, reactors, etc.
- Responsible for development and optimization of process simulations and advanced controls/process optimization.
- Identify and implement automation improvement opportunities to optimize plant operations
- Provide plant commissioning and start-up support
- Support capital projects including FEED, detailed design, testing, installation, commissioning, and start-up.
Your Focus:
- Supporting large capital project or multiple medium/small capital projects ($10M-100M)
- Lead Process Engineering in a key technical support role on major capital projects (pre-FEED, FEED, EPCm) in Advanced Materials business.
- Support Pre-FEED and FEED development for projects including process scope and design solutions for growth, cost savings, and HSE projects in Honeywell Advanced Materials business, including Fluorine Products.
- Develop process models, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, layout, basic control schemes and equipment specifications.
- Identify and mitigate technical and process safety risks during design.
- Provide on-site technical support during project construction, commissioning, startup and product trials.
- Identify and evaluate process alternatives during design and justify process improvements with economic evaluations.
- Develop expertise with process chemistry and unit operations to enable scale-up of laboratory and pilot data to commercial design.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in process design & start-up on large capital projects $10M-$100M
- Relevant project work in some of the following sectors: Fluorine Products, Specialty Chemicals
- Previous experience working with EPC Contractor process engineers in delivering PDP and FEED packages.
- Guiding, reviewing, and approving simulations, Design Basis', PFDs, UFDs, Utility Load Lists, the Equipment List, and process studies.
- P&ID development - hydraulic calculations, design conditions, and equipment sizing
- Solid knowledge of Chemical Engineering disciplines.
- Ability to interact successfully with clients, partners and internal employees in all areas of expertise.
- Introduce new knowledge and design tools
- Ability to travel, present, and lead field assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning and organizing the work of the project team for large capital projects and multiple medium/small capital projects
- Working with Project Manager tracking and maintaining performance budget progress, schedule commitments, and quality standards
- Participate and work with others on bid packages for procurement of equipment, materials or services on capital projects
- Reviewing and approving all process engineering deliverables
- Producing equipment specifications
- Assisting the designers in resolving routine layout and detailing problems for a capital projects
- Producing estimate level preliminary designs suitable for the level of estimate being performed on a major capital project
- Developing cost studies as necessary to determine the most ideal and efficient approach to solving engineering tasks at hand
- Producing project designs that are optimal and efficient with an overall emphasis on ease of construction, operability, and maintenance
- Checking calculations, reports, and studies made by other engineers to ensure accuracy, as well as conformance to codes, specifications, design criteria and good engineering practices
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, client presentations, scope review meetings, and proposal development
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
- 6 years Process Engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing sector and experience with Front End Loading (FEL)
- Guiding, reviewing, and approving simulations, Design Basis', PFDs, UFDs, Utility Load Lists, the Equipment List, and/or process studies
- Experience with implementing major capital projects and supporting daily activities
WE VALUE
- Significant experience with fluorine chemical process technologies and/or new process development
- Significant experience with distillation and heat exchanger design and optimization
- Prefer significant experience in process design & start-up on large capital projects $10M-$100M
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering techniques to optimize manufacturing processes
- Ability to focus on important information and identify key details
- Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work without guidance or supervision
- Excellent team facilitation skills leading cross-functional teams with manufacturing, technology, and business representatives
- Willing to travel as required for pre-bid meetings, client presentations and project site meetings.
