Join a team that designs, develops and integrates highly complex systems for space within Honeywell Aerospace. As an Optical Systems Engineer you will part of a team that specializes in the design, development and manufacturing of novel, state-of-the-art optical instruments for military, space and commercial applications, including Earth observation, atmospheric monitoring, space situational awareness, space science, and optical communications. You will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will be involved in every aspect of the systems life cycle; from the front end of business development through product end of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership on optical instrument development programs as part of a highly engaged and integrated engineering team involved in all aspects of design, assembly and test activities
- Design and analysis of end-to-end optical systems for space, including defining system architectures and system requirements to meet customer requirements, defining and selecting appropriate designs through leading trade studies, and developing system-level models and performing simulation and analysis to ensure end-to-end performance requirements are met
- Develop system level and sub-system level requirements and specification documents working with the optical, electrical and mechanical design teams
- Develop program level documentation according to space agency standards (ie. Canadian Space Agency, NASA and ESA)
- Lead design verification activities
- Write proposals and white papers
- Provide technical support to business development activities, including customer briefings and conference presentations
- Perform technical readiness and risk analysis assessments
