The Sr. HSE Engineer is a key leadership role within the SPS Integrated Supply Chain organization. You will report directly to the Site HSE Manager. You will be a key HSE resource within the facility working directly with site leadership teams. You will lead meetings, spearhead new projects, lead front line supervisors in their daily commitment to safety, and serve as a key influencer throughout the facility. You will learn to manage the elements of a robust and extensive management system that, through incorporation of impactful operating processes, will facilitate your professional growth and the growth of an OSHA VPP Star site. This position is located in Freeport, IL.
Your Honeywell Day
Your day will likely begin with a coffee and a quick review of your leader standard work. Once you have your tasks laid out you will make your way to the leadership meeting where you will present an update on the status of corrective actions, compliance actions, management of change projects, injuries or incidents, environmental impacts/actions, and current Gemba completions. After the meeting you may decide to complete a Gemba walk in each of your production areas where you will identify risks, HSE program gaps, and check in with employees while managing any injuries or incidents.
After your Gemba walks you will likely connect with action owners to ensure identified insurance gaps are being filled, audit findings are being completed, training is current, industrial hygiene evaluations and actions are being completed.
Following lunch, you will want to check your standard work and re-prioritize, if necessary, based upon the first half of the day. The second half of the day will see you influencing others as you complete ergonomic evaluations and track improvement projects. During the afternoon you may find yourself completing an audit of a lock tag try event, confined space event, PPE, or even contractor safety. Your afternoon will also send you to the wastewater treatment facility where you will learn the processes, and become certified, to keep the wastewater clean for discharge to the city.
