Conflicts and New Business Specialist

Currently, we are looking for an entry-level Conflicts and New Business Specialist in our Detroit or Bloomfield Hills office. In addition to Detroit and Bloomfield HIlls we have offices in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo, Chicago, IL and Washington D.C. With more than 300 attorneys working in 60 different areas of concentration, Honigman provides timely and cost-effective counsel to clients in numerous industries.

The Conflicts and New Business Specialist will provide attorneys with prompt and relevant reports that enable attorneys to determine whether proposed new engagements present conflicts of interest. This individual will work closely with other members of the team and will report to the Director of Ethics. This is a hybrid position after completion of initial training. The preferred location is the firm’s Detroit office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Formulates and conducts searches in the conflicts database (Intapp Conflicts) for each party name and certain matter descriptions involved in new engagements.
• Reviews search results for relevancy.
• Prepares pdf reports and sends reports to appropriate attorneys for review.
• Inputs new client and matter data into firm systems.
• Performs due diligence on proposed new clients.
• Processes requests to change client and matter information, and reopen closed clients and matters.
• Uploads completed engagement letters into document management system and Intapp Terms.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree, or equivalent education or experience.
• Strong database-searching skills are required, and experience with advanced keyword and operator/modifier searching (i.e. “Boolean”) experience is a plus.
• Law firm experience in conflicts or library services is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in legal conflict management systems (e.g., Intapp, Elite 3E, Aderant Expert Conflicts and Aderant Expert Live, LegalKEY, LegalTrax, ProLaw, Juris, Rippe & Kingston, Rainmaker, or Omega Legal) is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Word.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment, strong collaborative team skills, and ability to complete work within established timeframes are required.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
• Ability to occasionally adjust schedule or work overtime.
