What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Counselor position at HopeWay?

The Counselor's role is to provide psychotherapy counseling services, which may include assessments, individual/family/group counseling, treatment planning, coordination of care, and discharge/transition. These services are delivered in accordance with licensing board requirements and all relevant laws and regulations.

The Counselor demonstrates a willingness to learn and actively collaborates with the team and leadership to develop new skills, improve treatment approaches, address issues, and solve problems.

If the Counselor is registered as a clinical supervisor, they may be required to perform clinical supervision duties and will have their visit goals adjusted accordingly to meet this need.

The Counselor is responsible for upholding and supporting the core values of HopeWay Group LLC, which include compassion, integrity, and expertise in all communication, relationships, and interactions. The Counselor is also comfortable practicing from both a secular and Christian faith perspective, and actively participates in opportunities to learn new skills in this area of practice.

Position Responsibilities

·       Provide individual, family, and couple psychotherapy counseling including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge/transition notes.

·       Be able to provide counseling services from a secular and Christian faith perspective.

·       Is sensitive and understanding of similarities and differences in belief systems.  Practices according to the client’s expressed beliefs and preferences.

·       Complete additional documentation such as letters or disability paperwork on behalf of clients as deemed necessary and in compliance with policies and procedures.

·       Complete all documentation of sessions on the same day as the session.

·       Ensure all privacy and confidentiality is upheld.

·       Actively participate in staff meetings, events, and other activities as assigned.

·       Demonstrates eagerness to learn and engage in performance improvement initiatives.

·       May be responsible for training new staff.

·       If a registered clinical supervisor, may be required to participate in clinical supervision of staff.

·       Comply with all agency policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Requirements

·       Minimum master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field.

·       Active Maryland license in good standing as a LMSW, LCSW-C, LGPG, LCPC, LGMFT, LCMFT

·       Ability to maintain clinical supervision external to HopeWay Group LLC if that is needed and applicable.
