TechACCESS of Rhode Island was founded in 1991 to provide assistive technology (AT) services to people with disabilities.
TechACCESS believes that an informed consumer working collaboratively with knowledgeable professionals can best identify and select effective technology devices and services to improve his or her independent functioning. To achieve this, our programs are offered to assistive technology users, families, educational and therapeutic professionals, and others interested in learning more about assistive technology.
FULL TIME (40 hours/week) Augmentative and Alternative Communication Consultant and Speech-Language Pathologist needed to provide direct AAC consultation/evaluation/therapy services.
Essential Functions:
- Provides Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) assessments and AAC device needs. May also support funding initiatives.

Provide direct Speech-Language services to individuals with Augmentative and Alternative communication systems. Must have:
- Working knowledge of iOS communication apps: Proloquo2Go, TouchChat, GoTalk Now, and LAMP Words for Life
- Familiarity with dedicated communication devices from TobiiDynavox, Prentke Romich, and Saltillo
- Experience with alternative access methods including switch access and eye tracking
- Use knowledge of AAC to make recommendations.
- Provides training of AAC usage to families, teachers, staff members and other therapists.
- Completes evaluations, contact notes, and all written documentation in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Receives and reviews referrals in accordance with established program procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality following HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) accredited university.
- Clinical Certificate of Competency from ASHA.
- ATP Certification preferred (or able to sit for exam).
- Experience with evaluating and training with families and individuals with complex communication needs to use AAC.
- RI and MA Licenses.
Salary : $62,500 - $79,200
