What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist position at Horizon Health Services?
Candidate is required to have medical office setting experience. Knowledge of electronic medical records preferred.
Job Roles and Responsibilities are as below:
· Courteously greet patients, visitors, and other clients; determine their needs and direct them appropriately taking responsibility for helping the patient, visitor, or client.
· Educate patients on HHS policies that direct effect them to include medication refills, insurance, referrals, return calls, lab/test results, late arrivals, cancellation of appointments, no show for appointment, Sliding Fee Discount program, scheduled appointments, medical records requests, co-pays, delinquent debts, etc.
· Perform delegated independent administrative functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines and standards as observed by management and providers.
· Maintain a clean/organized work area and patient waiting area.
· Answer and refer telephone calls and other inquiries according to policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated.
· Ensure efficient patient flow by assessing availability and notifying providers or management of any conflicts as needed.
· Schedule appointments accurately and promptly as required by appointment guidelines; considering the impact of actions on all staff throughout the system.
· Make reminder calls to all scheduled patients 2 days in advance to assure any necessary records (hospital records, test results, specialist records, etc) are retrieved before patient’s appointment.
· Schedule and track referrals to specialists for patients via direction from provider as needed.
· Patient Registration (established and new). Verify and update all required information.
· Insurance/Sliding Fee verification and eligibility.
· Collect patient co-payments/account balances; recording payments within the system and on Payment Log.
· Confirm Registration forms, HIPAA notification, Disclosure Consents, Parental Consents, and any other required forms are updated in patients chart.
· Maintain and ensure patient documents and information are filed and scanned appropriately in patient’s electronic health record.
· Distribute incoming faxes and monitor outgoing faxes
· Allocate incoming and outgoing mail
· Offer and process Sliding Fee Discount Applications
· Copy, scan, and fax information and documents as needed or requested.
· Process medical records requests and charge accordingly
